MOVING PICTURE CLUB
Animation Workshops

CLICK HERE To watch Sunny Bug Park, an animated film made by Malorees Infant School reception children
The aim of these workshops is to introduce children to the art of animation and its magic.
From looking at the earliest animation devices, such as zoetropes, the children will understand the principles of animation and apply these to making their own animated scenes, using the latest technology. We also work with paper, clay and natural materials such as leaves, cones and pebbles, bringing inanimate materials to life.
The children will learn to think in sequence, exploring how each image relates to the previous and to the following, and how this sequence can tell a story. We begin with a simple narrative, to which they are encouragedto contribute their own ideas and experiences.
The children will work in a team towards a shared goal - an animated short film that incorporates their own handmade drawings and objects, sound effects, voices and storytelling. At the end of the course, each child receives a dvd of their animated film to keep.
Small groups encouraged (maximum 6 children).
Private tuition also available.
Suitable for five year olds and upwards.
Previous classes have been held at Malorees Infant School, Christchurch Avenue,
Queens Park, London, NW6.

Butterfly Passion
A series of project including short stories, illustrations, and film
After coming across an article in the Independent two years ago, about the extinction of butterflies from our woods and meadows "the beautiful creatures the future generations may never see", I set out on a quest of exploration, which led me via The Natural History Museum, London, to a bi-annual gathering of entomologists in the gold encrusted ballroom in the heart of Prague. While immersed in this dazzling, otherworldly spectacle I glimpsed an opening, which led me to a crucial encounter with a lepidopterist, a lonely man whose genuine passion for knowledge became the greatest inspiration, and the underlying driving force for my explorations.
